Echosong sniffed gently as she padded out of the camp. She looked either way and headed sitently toward the river. She raced through the forest swiftly, weaving and ducking her way through the trees. She stopped suddenly as the river appeared before her. She softly breathed, "If only you were here to share this with me." The tom she liked didn't know of her secret obsession. And as she slipped silently into the water, she wondered what he'd think if he knew. If any one of them knew.....

Horsestar moved swiftly through the forest, his delicate black paws seemingly only skimming the leaf strewn forest floor as he followed a rabbit. The tom skidded to a halt as his prey escaped him by diving down a rabbit hole. '' Mouse dung... '' Horsestar muttered under his breath. He pricked his ears trying to find if more prey was in the area, noticing for the first time he had chased the rabbit all the way to the river. He heard a voice just barely over the babbling of the river. He sniffed the air and knew that it was his deputy, Echosong. He stepped out of the cover of the bushes to find her sliding into the river.
'' Hello, Echosong. '' He meowed to her.

Echosong jumped, her tail fluffing and shooting straight up. She whirled around and her back paws slipped on the slick riverstones, causing her to slide under the surface. She splashed back up and swallowed lungfuls of air feverishly. "H-Horsestar! I didn't see you!" The fur on her face and chest dripped, her pelt clinging to her small frame, making her look like a pitiful, half drowned apprentice. "Hi..." She whispered, blinking water out of her eyelashes.

Horsestar blinked his wide eyes and took a step, startled by the sudden splashing of water and now his half drowned deputy. He wasn't one to get his paws wet. '' I'm sorry I startled you, '' He meowed, sitting down and wrapping his tail around his delicate black paws.

Echosong smiled and shook out her pelt. "That's okay. Hey! You should come for a swim with me! It's really fun." She shuffled her paws under the water, causing a crayfish to startle and swim away. She jumped after it, biting it and holding it up proudly for her leader to see.

As Echosong finished speaking, a cray fish had appeared in her jaws. '' Impressive! '' He meowed to her and then shuffled his paws. '' I appreciate the offer, but I am not one to get my paws wet... '' He meowed with a smile.

She smiled. "C'mon......" She murmured around her catch. She slid up to the bank and sat the crayfish down gently. "Please?" she whispered. "I bet you'll like it....."

Horsestar flicked his ear, '' Fine... But I refuse to get anything but my paws wet, ok Echosong? '' He meowed and timidly stepped towards the water and poked at the water with one paw. '' It's cold, though! '' He meowed, slightly purring. He didn't usually have much time for leisurely things like this.

Echosong purred as Horsestar stepped into the water. She slid backwards and stepped over a deep trench and onto a high rock. "C'mere Horsestar! I see something really cool!" She purred, staring down into the water.

'' Ok... Hold on... '' Horsestar meowed, awkwardly wading through the water. The normally smooth fur along his spine stood on end as he made his way toward Echosong. He climbed up on the rock next to her, shaking his paws a little as he stepped out of the water, and peered down into the river. '' I don't see anything... ''

Horsestar leaned down even closer, his muzzle uncomfortably close to the water, and narrowed his eyes. '' Are you sure there's anything down there besides mud? '' He asked the black she-cat.

With a grin, Echosong jumped in the water, splashing her leader. She resurfaced, laughing loudly, and contemplated dragging him in with her. He'd learn to love the water....

Horsestar jumped back with a slight hiss, his fur dripping wet. Despite the fact water was weighing it down his dark fur managed to stick up at different angles. He jumped down from the rock and onto land, vigorously shaking his fur out. He knew his deputy only meant well, but the tom couldn't help but hiss under his breath.

Echosong stared after him. Her ear drooped. She'd only meant to play..... She sank up to her ears in the water, looking sad and ashamed, her ears drooping.
